Ringling College Library Association's Art Lecture Series provides unique opportunities to visit art-related exhibitions in our community and Central and Southwest Florida. Reservations are required, tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and are priced separately for each event. Several of our events are free to Library Association members. The Art Lecture Series is a wonderful way to introduce your friends and neighbors to the Ringling College Library Association.

We are privileged to have Gary Monroe open our series. He is the distinguished author of the seminal books about the Highwaymen, Florida’s African-American landscape painters. Get the insider’s scoop on the 200,000 oils these young men and woman produced during the 1960s and 70s, which became the visual legacy of the Sunshine State.
Parking is available in the Selby Gallery area and adjacent parking lot on Rt. 41.

National Council of the Arts member and gifted watercolorist Barbara Ernst Prey will deliver a slide presentation of her works, some of which reside in U.S. embassies around the world. She has produced official paintings for NASA, has provided the artwork for the official White House Christmas Card and is renowned for her vibrant landscapes of the Maine coast and elsewhere.

Be among the first to tour this groundbreaking exhibition that pairs the work of American icon Norman Rockwell with images by award-winning photojournalist Kevin Rivoli. Rivoli’s “slice of life” photos of family, community, patriotism and milestones confirm and celebrate the moods and subjects depicted in Rockwell’s evocative originals.

Pat Ringling Buck, Marcia Corbino and Kevin Dean will share with us the origins of Sarasota's cultural identity from the arrival of circus impresario John Ringling to the present day. They will cover the activities, institutions and world -renowned artists who have influenced the growth of the city and continue to define Sarasota’s character today.
