Ringling College Library Association's Art Lecture Series provides unique opportunities to visit art-related exhibitions in our community and Central and Southwest Florida. Reservations are required, tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and are priced separately for each event. Several of our events are free to Library Association members. The Art Lecture Series is a wonderful way to introduce your friends and neighbors to the Ringling College Library Association.

Enjoy a glimpse behind the curtain at Cirque Du Soleil with Dr. Wanda Chaves, professor in the Business of Art and Design Department at the Ringling College of Art and Design. As part of her course, Leadership in Creative Environments, students from various majors teamed up to develop a project for the Cirque Du Soleil organization. Dr. Chaves and several of her students will reveal highlights from their presentation to the entertainment giant in Montreal, Canada

Revel in majesty of architecturally significant Cuban palacios, mansions and private homes as Dr. Michael Connors offers a virtual tour from his latest book. His thirty -plus years of writing, consulting and teaching in the fine and decorative arts make him a true antiquarian. Dr. Connors will also spotlight some of his other beautiful and historical books, "French Island Elegance," Caribbean Houses," "British West Indies Style" and "Cuban Elegance."

John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art
In 2011 we toasted the 100th anniversary of John and Mable Ringling's arrival in Sarasota. Their greatest legacy, The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, experienced a remarkable transformation over the past decade with new buildings, programs and collections. Steven High, the Ringling Museum of Art's new executive director, will discuss the museum's recent history and vision for the future; then treat us to a tour of it's latest acquisition, the Turrell Shy Space
Park in the museum's main lot at University Parkway and Bayshore Drive.

Jeff Schwartz: Artist

Describing himself as a modernist in postmodern times, Jeff Schwartz is a Ringling College professor and one of Sarasota's outstanding artists. "Representation is merely a starting point of view," he notes. This is accomplished in oil, pen and ink, creating images that move beyond the formal qualities of observational art. Jeff will present his work, which appears at prominent galleries and in private collections around the country
