Broadcaster Yamiche Alcindor to Moderate RCLA Town Hall on Feb. 17

The PBS NewsHour correspondent will lead the discussion with Ambassador Wendy R. Sherman.

SARASOTA, FL – Ringling College Library Association today announced that Yamiche Alcindor, White House correspondent for PBS NewsHour and a political contributor for NBC News and MSNBC, will moderate Ambassador Wendy Sherman’s TOWN HALL Lectures on Monday, February 17, 2020 at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center.  Single tickets are available for what is sure to be a lively discussion on international affairs.

Ambassador Wendy R. Sherman is a senior fellow at Harvard’s Institute of Politics and Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.  Sherman recently stepped down as undersecretary of state for political affairs after four years overseeing every region of the world, dealing with every major opportunity and crisis, and leading the U.S. negotiating team to a successful conclusion of the Iran nuclear deal.

Sherman served as counselor of the Department of State from 1997–2001, as well as special advisor to President Bill Clinton and policy coordinator on North Korea. From 1993–1996, under Secretary Warren Christopher, she was assistant secretary for legislative affairs.

At PBS NewsHour, Alcindor has directly questioned President Trump and has traveled extensively including to places like Belgium for the 2018 North Atlantic Treaty Organization meeting, to Helsinki, Finland as President Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and to McAllen, Texas to chronicle life on the border of the United States and Mexico and the impact of President Trump’s family separation policy.

As a contributor for NBC News and MSNBC, she often appears on shows including Morning Joe, Andrea Mitchell Reports, Hardball with Chris Matthews, and Meet the Press with Chuck Todd.

Single tickets are available for this TOWN HALL lecture. Morning lectures begin at 10:30 a.m. and evening talks begin at 7:30 p.m.  The lecture will be presented at Van Wezel Performing Arts Center, 777 North Tamiami Trail in Sarasota.
